| Steve was born in 1956 in Newcastle, and brought up in nearby Hexham, Northumberland, where he was, for his formative years, a member of Hexham Abbey Choir, and where he became Organ Scholar. He read Music with applied Physics at Surrey University, studying the Organ under Philip Moore and Gerald Gifford, and gained a performance diploma from the Royal College of Music. He returned to Hexham to teach Music after a post-graduate year at Newcastle University before moving to Bromsgrove to take up the post of Head of Music at North Bromsgrove High School, where he is currently an Assistant Head Teacher. He spent many years as organist and choirmaster at St. Godwalds, Finstall, and has conducting experience with a wide range of choirs and ensembles. He firmly believes that rehearsals should be fun as well as challenging! |
