Green is a pleasant village close to the south west border of the City
of Birmingham in the West Midlands of the United Kingdom, yet firmly in
the County of Worcestershire.
The Choral Society was founded in 1951 and sprang from the choir of the local Women's Institute. It is a mixed voice choir with a current membership of about 55 singing members. It is a registered charity. Rehearsals, from September to June, are held on Monday evenings, 7.45pm - 9.45pm (with a coffee break) in the Parish Centre, Sandhills Road, Barnt Green.
The Society gives three concerts per year, in local venues, with professional soloists and accompaniment.
Subscription, at present £80 per year, is payable in September, or in two instalments (September and January).
Student members pay no subscription.
Prospective new members, who are very welcome to "test the water" at a rehearsal or two, are invited to contact the Secretary, Jonathan Treml, at: the email@example.com, any member of the Society or email me, Chris Hackney, at: firstname.lastname@example.org. There are no auditions.
For those who do not sing, but wish to support the Society, there is the "Friends of Barnt Green Choral Society", which is open to anyone making an annual donation, minimum £10, to the Society. "Friends" are offered reduced price concert tickets (£1 reduction) and are invited to social functions. For further information contact me, Chris Hackney, or the Secretary: Jonathan Treml.
